ADULT MINISTRIES
Sunday Christian Formation (10:10 a.m.-10:50 a.m.)
Newcomer's Discovery Class (begins February 3, 2008)
This class meets each Sunday morning and is designed to help everyone as they begin or continue their path to a life with Christ. Christians - new or lifelong, young or old - will gain a deeper insight into our faith and the history and beliefs that bring us together as Christians and as Episcopalians. In short, it is an invitation to spiritual growth for all - whoever they are and wherever they are on their spiritual journey.
The instructor is Fr. Brad St.Romain, and the meeting location is the Conference Room.
Explorer’s Class
The Explorers Class engages in serious Bible study on a verse by verse basis. The linguistic, cultural, geopolitical, economic, and literary background of the passage are considered in the the interpretation and application. The 2007 and 2008 class study is the book of Genesis. The focus of the study is the difficulty of God's creature (man) living under God's rules and conditions (covenant) in God's world with God's other creatures (mankind). Genesis is filled with stories and questions that have as much or more relevance to our world as they did in the world which gave rise to them.
The instructor is Bill Carden, and the meeting location is the Fellowship Room.
Faith and Families Class
Faith & Families is an Adult Christian Education opportunity for parents of young children through age 12. The class consists of a book study and open discussion. The books chosen for the class are centered around parenting issues and/or the challenges facing marriages today. The book that we are currently reading is "A Model For Marriage" by Jack O. Balswick and Judith K. Balswick.
The atmosphere is casual, fun, and friendly as we tackle issues together that one, some or many face. We strive to support each other and celebrate the blessings God has given us.
Various facilitators lead discussion. Meeting location is the parlor.
Beginnings Class
This class uses a lectionary based curriculum so anyone can visit at any time and will be right in step with the rest of the class. The facilitators (K. Paul Holt, Andy McSwain and Mary Wentworth) rotate from week to week. In addition we have a couple of social events for class members and their families during the school year from lunches on Sunday to trips to Cyclone for barbeque.
Various facilitators lead discussion. Meeting location is the Advent Room.
