MUSIC MINISTRY

horizontal_line

Philosophy Statement

It is our goal in the music ministries at St. Paul’s to faithfully witness to a Christ who is welcoming, compassionate, and life-giving. The God we worship is no cliché but is more than any one style or type of music or liturgy can comprehend. So we stretch toward the mystery not fully understanding all that God has packed into the music we perform but trusting the Holy Spirit to use us and use our song in ways we cannot imagine.

CHORISTERS LEVEL I

Three Year Olds - Kindergarten

Debbie Haddad, Director

Rehearsals: School Music Room, Wednesday 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

The pre-readers in this age group will have fun exploring the elements of music, finding their singing voices, and learning to work and play together in a group. While these children will sing in worship on occasion, we will concentrate on laying the foundation for life-long participation in worship. Music and movement activities using both rhythm and Orff instruments will help our youngest Choristers learn basic music skills.

CHORISTERS LEVEL II

1st - 6th Grade

Alice Campbell, Director
Nancy Reid, Assistant

Rehearsals: Nave, Wednesday 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Older Choristers will make a joyful noise singing in unison and in canons and rounds. We'll begin learning to read music, and move towards part-singing as we practice a wide variety of songs. We'll think and talk about why music is so important to the Church, and Choristers will share their musical offerings during worship about once a month. Along with our voices, we'll have fun with rhythm instruments, hand chimes, and Orff instruments as we explore God's gift of music.

Please Note:Dinner goes from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights, followed by an hour of musical fun for children aged 3 through 4th grade. We'll sing and move, learn about worship, and sometimes play instruments while we explore God's wonderful gift of music. We plan to participate in Sunday morning services twice this season-once in February and once in April-so come join with us and SING!
