The Episcopal youth community exists to glorify God by our words and actions, to serve others, to share the good news of Christ, and to strengthen our relationships with one another and with God. A new youth website is in the works, so stay tuned!

For more information on the Youth Ministry activities click on "Downloads" and then click "Youth Ministry." There you can find St. Paul's new blog, calendars, newsletters, acolyte schedules and more!

We focus on something different each Wednesday of the month. Our four rotations will be drama night, game night, media night and scripture night! Join us to find out which night is on the schedule!

Sunday Christian Formation

Summer Christian Formation

(those entering 7th grade through graduating seniors)

Issues in Our Lives

Beginning June 13th the youth will explore the issues they face everyday and relate those issues to scripture.  It will be a chance to discuss their lives, their concerns, and grow community.

The class will also join the Adult Theo-Media class once in June and once in July to take part in their discussions.

This class will meet in the Youth Building.

Fall Christian Formation

Media in My Life

7th through 9th Grades: 10:10 -10:50 a.m. (Youth Center)

Using the highly-acclaimed Nooma videos by Rob Bell this class will explore various topics from creation to anger to death to faith and many more relevant topics. Each video will take us through a few weeks as we explore the different topics with questions, scripture and video clips.

My Faith, My Life

10th through 12th Grades: 10:10 -10:50 a.m. (Youth Center)

This class will focus their attention on the Episcopal Church and help the youth understand their own faith, giving them the ability to claim their faith as their own. Using the book My Faith, My Life as a guide, they will cover everything from scripture, church history, and sacraments to the meaning of prayer for teens today.

Community of Young Youth (CY2)

The 5th and 6th graders now have a ministry to call their own, the Community of Young Youth also known as CY2. Erin Busby, Director of Youth and Family Ministries, will lead this group in a once a month activity. This ministry will include a once a month activity consisting of fellowship and a Bible study. Parents are invited to attend the first meeting to learn more about the goals of this group. This ministry will give the 5th and 6th graders a ministry of their own, as well as prepare them to join St. Paul's EYC in 7th grade. Each month two parents will help in the planning and providing snacks. If you are interested in helping please contact Erin in the church office.

Missions

mission: austin 2009
At the end of July 2009, youth and 5 adults attended mission: austin, our mission experience in Austin, Texas. We attended a Group Workcamps Foundation Week of Hope and worked in various community service projects. Our youth group was teamed up with other youth groups to work with Hospice in nursing homes, lead Vacation Bible Schools at local churches, work at Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, complete yard work at homes of the elderly and at a church, assisting in cleaning up some areas of town and much more. Most importantly, we learned how to Love Out Loud, sharing God's word through actions as opposed to only using words. We touched the lives of many, and many of us drove away feeling as though we were the ones who were truly blessed.

spring break 2009 outreach opportunity
During Spring Break 2009 youth worked with Mission Waco on local outreach projects. It was important that the youth not only complete mission projects, but they had the chance to complete mission projects in their own environment. This allowed the youth the opportunity the chance to give of themselves.

mission: baystlouis 2009
Summer 2009 took the youth to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to continue in the rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Katrina. For some of the youth it was an opportunity to go back to Mission on the Bay and see how the rebuilding has progressed since Spring Break 2007. The youth held various fundraisers to help raise the money for this trip.
